The brief

A signature curved counter, built to exact architectural tolerance.

Designed by BAA Architects, Z Cafe called for a 965 sq ft tenant space built around an undulating "Z"-shaped service counter running the length of the main floor — a fluted, curved millwork form paired with marble countertops, an arched back-bar wall with backlit ceramic display niches, and a scalloped dropped ceiling with integrated cove lighting and a 30" backlit "Z" monogram.

Kings Contractors executed the full buildout from the architectural drawings: curved counter framing and finish, drywall and drop-ceiling framing, wall and partition framing, kitchen flooring, arched niche millwork, marble counter installation, and coordination of electrical, lighting, and cove detailing throughout the space.

Every curve in the plan — the counter, the ceiling, the feature wall — was built to hold the architect's radius and sightlines through finish, not just framing.
